Welcome!
We’re glad you’re here, for whatever reason that may be.
Maybe you’re a friend, parent, or co-worker of someone who is part of a house church and you’re curious—or concerned (that’s okay)—about what that means.
Maybe you’re a house church leader looking for support and resources.
Maybe you’re a Christian looking for something more intimate, involved, and New-Testament-like than what typical institutionalized churches offer.
Or maybe you’re a Christian who's already a part of a small and intimate faith community that meets in homes. Maybe you’re feeling a little alone, or even a little ostracized, and want to know if there are other people out there following the call to practice their faith this way. Maybe you’re hoping to learn from more mature house church members who have been at this for years.
Whoever you are, we’ll do our best to shed some light on what you’re looking to understand. Along with this, we hope to normalize the house church model and provide resources for developing healthy, mature house churches. You can learn more about who we are here.

What to Know From the Start
There a few common myths we want to debunk early:
#1: House churches are not born out of bitterness, division, “church hurt,” or hate for the institutionalized church.
#2: The house church structure is not a magic bullet for common institutional issues.
#3: House church gatherings are not like a typical Sunday morning service, small group, or bible study, just in a living room.
#4: House churches are not just a “good fit” for certain personality types or for certain seasons of life.
#5: House churches do not have less accountability for their members, leadership, or doctrine.
#6: House churches do not abandon the call to reach the lost and make disciples.
#7: House churches are not a mysteriously private sect built on “group think.”

LEADING WITHOUT
A PULPIT
In this article, we explore foundations of personal oversight, shepherding, and thoughtfulness in house church leadership.
In this episode, we talk about what factors might be behind the growth of the house church scene in modern times. Why are so many Christians moving towards more intimate faith communities in the 21st century? Is it just part of a fad to “fight the system,” another season of revivalism that will fall away? Or is it an instinctive return to the biblical ways of the earliest church? (Spoiler alert: we think both of those views are unfair). Join us in unpacking the complexity of modern revivalism, declining trust in institutions, and the impact of the “Age of Information” for Christians today.

DISCERNING GOD'S DESIGN
Here, we grapple with questions about the earliest church, God's design for the Church, and how we can align our practices to that design.
In this episode, we give a wide-reaching but practical answer to the questions “What is house church?” and “What do house church meetings look like?” We explain how we separate ourselves from a set liturgy and instead set each meeting’s structure by navigating different seasons and needs. In all of the variety of meeting structures, though, the focus is always on becoming better representatives and disciples of Christ who make disciples. For an even wider view into what house church meetings might look like and include, check out the article series on our website, A Glimpse into Gatherings. There, you’ll find a more detailed explanation of why we let go liturgy, as well as examples of how we’ve seen house churches include scriptural study and reading, fellowship, edification, worship, and prayer in their gatherings.
